Sleeping maids...

Close up of a model. intended to illustrate a scene from the chinese folk tale 'Monkey'. Some of you might remember the 1970's japanese series, the books much better. I never quite finished the piece...hopefully i can get back to it after the foundation exhibiton.

In this scene, monkey gate chashes the jade emperor's peach banquet while the servants are preparing the feast. grabing a bunch of his hair from his chest he recites a sutra - turning the hair into hundreds of drowsey insects, causing the beautiful maidens to fall asleep. This leaves monkey to drink all of the heavenly treats and Wine. Essentually the booze of the gods.
